Quality Control Associate

 Essential Functions:

  • Ensure a clean and sanitary operational room for the processing of fruit and vegetables in accordance with company and government standards
  • Ensure that the product in the containers match the label on the container, date codes and outgoing packing/barcode is correct
  • Ensure the processing room is ready for production thirty minutes prior to the beginning of the day
    • Barrels containing chilled water with Peracetic Acid placement
    • Chemicals added to the main flume system, potato line, Apple line and fruit tanks and Prep Barrels as needed
    • Metal detection machines validated at the start of shift and throughout production
    • Hand and knife dip stations filled with sanitizer with verification of chemical strength
  • Ensure all Products are to be run through metal detection machines at every product change metal detector validation and verification and must be completed and documented
  • Ensure all items run according to product sequence chart
  • Ensure all incoming raw products are checked prior to processing to meet approved specifications and check off sheet completed
  • Ensure all chemical stations must be checked with every change of product and checked off sheet as completed
  • Check Random weight checks, bag leak test, and various other H.A.C.C.P documentation and logs
  • Pull Shelf-life retention sampling
  • Follow all company Safety Standard Operating Procedures
  • Verify all production lines are clean, organized, and ready for operation
  • Restock boxes, trays, poly bags, tape, and other packaging material at each production line
  • Ensure scales, sealers, waste bins, and blue bins are operational, and properly placed at each production line
  • Verify barrels containing Peracetic Acid are prepared at proper temperature and concentration
  • Prepare and verify sanitizer water for knife dip stations and hand dip stations with correct chemical concentration
  • Verify room temperature is within required operational specifications and document as required.
  • Ensure all employee PPE supplies are fully stocked and available, including gloves, hairnets, beard nets, sleeve covers, and boot covers
  • Support employees with line setup to minimize unnecessary traffic in and out of the processing room during production
  • Ensure floors, equipment areas, storage shelves, and workstations remain clean and sanitary throughout the shift
  • Ensure cutting boards, cutting machines, tables, and food contact surfaces are rinsed and sanitized throughout production as needed and between product changes
  • Assist in removing empty and dirty boxes from the processing room throughout production to prevent garbage accumulation
  • Monitor and maintain the hallway and garbage staging area outside the cut room in clean and organized condition throughout the shift
  • Ensure waste bins and trash accumulation do not create food safety, pest control, or operational hazards
  • Support overall housekeeping and organization of the processing and surrounding areas to maintain audit readiness at all times
  • Assist in maintaining an organized and efficient processing environment throughout the shift
  • Review logs, and required food safety records for completeness and accuracy
  • Ensure leftover product is properly labeled and identified according to company procedures
  • Support compliance with company GMPs, sanitation procedures, and food safety standards

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Speak and write English satisfactorily
  • At least 2 years of recent and successful experience performing the above functions in a significant manufacturing or warehouse / distribution environment. Prefer that such experience is in the food industry.
  • Proficient PC skills in Microsoft Office and common E-Mail systems

Work Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday (5:00am – 1:00pm or finish)

Compensation:

  • $20.00/hour + Daily productivity incentive opportunities

Physical Demands:

  • Stand or sit for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs
  • Work in cold and wet cooler environment for extended periods of time
  • Repetitive bending and use of arms, legs, etc.
